Quarantine Park

The play of light and shadows fascinate me. Their relations to objects and people create visual stories that my eyes can’t help but wait for the next moment to unveil. A click later, a still moment is created.

I have watched the transformation of the top level of a garage into what I'd like to refer to as the quarantine park. It became a place where the residents coped with cabin fever during the pandemic. I watched over weeks the space outside my window go from desolation into where people and animals came together.

As the seasons changed and the weather got warmer, quarantine life became more challenging and more and more people took to the garage for one reason or another.

I watched people in masks or not go out for fresh air, sunshine on their faces. The garage quickly became a chapel for bible readings, a gym, where people flew their drones, walked their dogs, jogged, skate boarded, played tennis, rode bikes, took strolls or just play time with the kids.

A simple space, the 4th floor of a garage became this magical place for the residents to enjoy and for a brief moment not have to worry about COVID19 or in recent times any form of violence. It was transformed into an oasis of tranquillity.
